Contempt & Modifications

Contempt

A party who wishes to enforce a domestic relations court's judgment or order can bring a contempt to enforce the court's order. If the other party is found by the court to be in contempt, a reasonable amount of attorney fees may also be awarded to the enforcing party.

Post Divorce Modification including Support

Failure to pay support can create substantial legal complications. Not only could your wages be garnished and your assets seized, you could have your driver's license suspended and be thrown in jail. If unemployment or illness has impacted your ability to pay support, Deirdre O'Brien can prepare all necessary documentation needed by the court in requesting a modification of your support obligations.

Any substantial change in circumstance can be the basis for filing a request that the court modify your existing divorce decree.  Typically that involves a change in employment (compensation increase or decrease), health insurance, child custody and/or visitation arrangements, disability, relocation, cohabitation and remarriage.  Attorney O'Brien can evaluate the facts of our case to determine if you qualify for a modification.
